With the recent departure of the UK and Greece, a spate of devastating terrorist attacks across Germany and France, and the secession of Spain’s Catalan region, Europe has found itself in turmoil. After costly involvement in the Middle East, the remaining EU member states have re-allocated almost all military spending to internal security operations, and efforts to stabilise their failing economies.
Sensing an opportunity, Ukrainian rebels - backed by Russia - move West in a bid to take Ukraine by force. Rebel factions in Belarus, Latvia, Romania and Bulgaria also begin to set up strongholds - anticipating the success of their Ukrainian counterparts.
With NATO unable to act, the member states of Central Europe panic, and petition their neighbours to pool their resources and provide a viable tactical solution. Not wanting to be pulled into another costly military campaign, it is unanimously agreed that one of the world’s largest private military corporations will be contracted to provide counter-insurgency, non-kinetic, and disruptive services. With a multi-billion Euro contract on the line, not to mention the potential of further service contracts, competition is fierce.
The final two bidders for the contract, Oracle and Ravencroft International, have consented to a head-to-head test of skills at Longmoor Urban Training Centre - hosted by the UK MOD. The exhibition will be attended by delegates from around the globe, with technology showcases and presentations being carried out by representatives from both companies.
In 1993, a merger between an American logistics company and a UK security company produced Oracle, now one of the most powerful and influential private military contractors in the world.
Services include training, consultancy, and protective security services. Most of Oracle’s turnover is generated through government contracts, or services to large multi-national firms (specifically those involved with the oil and mining industries). A recent public scandal saw Oracle lose their contract to guard numerous embassies in the Middle East. However, they still operate in the region under several risk management contracts for private firms.
Ravencroft International (Camo)
Ravencroft International was formed in 1999 by former mercenaries from South Africa. The group has since operated in South America, Central and South-East Asia, and countries all over Africa.
All personnel are experienced ex-military, hailing from countries all over the world. Personnel are recruited exclusively through word of mouth (ie. recommendations from existing operatives who have served several years with the company), and have operational experience in some of the most inhospitable places on Earth.
Oracle and Ravencroft will both deploy 3x 8-man teams (making a total of 24) in a series of missions that will test their skills. Missions will be either short single-objective missions, or dynamic multi-objective missions. Each will involve a brief planning phase with a designated TL and 2iC, followed by a synchronised execution where both teams are released into the field.
